Life In The Fast Lane

As Spring arrived in full force today and the sun came out to shine on us all, I decided to have a change of wardrobe from the waist up for today’s plod.  So instead of the usual T-Shirt and fancy Running Jacket, I opted for T-Shirt and Sweatshirt.  I know!  Radical huh?  The fancy Running Jacket is brilliant, especially in the rain or cold, but the last couple of times I’ve been out in it, it has been a bit warmer outside, and I’ve felt like I was wearing a puddle by the end of the plod, so I thought just a plain old sweatshirt which I could zip up or down would be a bit cooler.  Wrong!  Never mind that the T-Shirt is supposed to be ‘wicking’, the sweatshirt obviously isn’t and therefore I’ve almost boiled in my own juices.  Seriously, I feel like a boiled egg.  I overheated so much I thought my head was going to explode, so sadly once again, my attempt to complete the 25 min plod has been foiled.  Drat!

The new tuuunes mix wasn’t a great success either.  Don’t get me wrong… love the tuuunes.  Love the mix.  However, didn’t realise I’d love it so much that I would be bopping whilst plodding which resulted in me plodding way too fast.  Normally I plod along around 8.2 to 8.5 mins/km which seems to serve me well.  Today though, as I was so happy bopping along to the cheesy pop I didn’t notice how much faster I was going.  A speedy 7.5mins/km!   No wonder I overheated!  Back to the techno techno techno Podrunner Podcasts I guess…

I’m not even going to tell you what the stats were for today.  I’m too embarrassed.  Instead I’m going to blame my wardrobe malfunction and try to sell my story to a tabloid.

Till the next time…

xoxo
